Taking A Sip

I may have paid the price, but look at what I got right now.”

Most of our batchmates during this summer break had their On-The-Job Training, and it only made up more reason for wanting to hang out with the people you shared your high school laughs with. Meet-ups, movie houses, DVD marathons, food trips – these all make up for a wonderful recipe of being able to share moments with people you consider special to your life. These may not be the most surreal, intense of memories, but the worth and meaning they hide behind it are far more enjoyable than what most people think.

For some people I got to know, there has always been this exclusive feeling of joy you can only get from hanging out with the same people who you shared your first prom night with. Of course, I’m not only referring to your date that night – let’s look at a wider aspect of the scene and look at the people who were there. There must have been some sort of bond that you guys share while growing through those four years that molded you into the person you are right now.

Nothing beats the high school years – or so they say. And they – whoever ‘they’ are – might just be right. People have often told me their feelings and experiences, and it is very much common to hear that they still keep in touch with their intermediate school peers. Take it not only from our generation, but also with others. The scope is just too large to ignore – yet, what can be bothersome is that there doesn’t seem to be a scientific explanation for it. Like love – it just happens, and you’re glad it did.

In college, you somehow already get to know who you are and have developed a character which you are most comfortable with. It is for this reason that your college friends can describe who and what you are. But if you look deeper into it, they don’t really know anything at all. Yes, they may be able to determine what you are, but only your high school friends know why.

P.S. This post goes out to the people I spent this day with, especially to Miko, Byron, Karla, ER, Alge, and Nikki. And more to Nikki for the invite today and that movie a few days back that just defined “cool”. I hope to see you guys again soon. :)
